The Cortland resident is competing June 22 in the U.S. Pro and Collegiate STIHL Timbersports Championships at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. Engasser, a line man for New York State Electric and Gas, will be face off in the pro division against 39 other lumberjack athletes in chopping, cutting and sawing competitions. Apart from lumberjack competitions, his other hobbies include competitive archery, snowmobiling and hunting, said a STIHL spokesman. The competition will air nationally on ABC in September.
