MAJAHUAL
The port near Costa Maya is one of the newest jewels of the Mexican Caribbean. This recently developed and unspoiled land is a wonderful starting point to explore the white beaches of Mayan Coast, the incredible, warm Caribbean waters of the Great Maya Reef, and the mysterious, surrounding sacred cities featuring ancient ruins.

RITUAL SITE
Located in a lush jungle near the border of Belize, the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins tower above the secluded, surrounding flat terrain. Only a small portion of the mysterious structure is uncovered, protecting its hidden secrets. The excavated portion of the pyramid can be explored by climbing the stairs leading to the first plateau.

OLD CITY
The ancient site of Kohunlich was once a ceremonial center and the home of an influential dynasty. Here, temples with striking, sculpted work feature 6-foot high stone masks with star eyes, thought to represent the deity of the sun, Kinich Ahau. Now believed to have great significance to the lower Petén region, these impressive ruins are appreciated for their broad range of architecture and natural beauty.

BEAUTIFUL BEACHES
The white sand and blue clean waters of the beaches on the Caribbean coast of Mexico make them the ideal place for swimming and fishing. Experience numerous water sports at Uvero Beach, given the name for the many sea grape trees that grow wild here.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
There's no shortage of food finds at a Mexican buffet. Enchiladas, tamales, tacos, chile rellenos, flautas, rice, beans, quesadillas and sopaipillas are just some of the local favorites featured on the menu. Top it off with beer, chips and salsa for a taste of Mexican paradise.
