Luxury Cruises
It is very easy to identify the top luxury cruise lines; however, the last several years has seen a closure in the distance between the luxury cruise lines and the premium cruise lines. The luxury cruise lines are Crystal, Regent, Seabourn and Silversea and the premium cruise lines are Oceania, Holland America, Princess and Celebrity.
It all comes down to cost versus value.
One of the best values (still expensive) is the Penthouse Suite on the Celebrity Cruises Constellation, Infinity, Millennium and Summit. The Penthouse Suite (click here for pictures) has approximately 1200 Square Feet in the cabin and the wrap around verandah has approximately 1200 square feet. For the price versus cabin, this is the best value I have personally viewed on a ship (I have seen most ships).
The other premium cruise lines also have great values on luxury accomodations in their higher end suites compared to luxury cruise lines. Expect to pay around the same price for a large suite on a premium cruise line as a smaller suite on a luxury cruise line.
However, if you want more personalized service and smaller less crowded ships, nothing compares to a luxury cruise line. Below is a breakdown of the luxury cruise lines.

Silversea's is the ultimate in the Luxury Cruise Line market. You will pay a high premium to sail on one of the most luxurious small cruise ships with a great crew to passenger ratio. Silversea Cruises are a favorite for many of the entertainment mogels who want great service and even more their privacy. Silversea is definitely the most expensive and the best in the luxury cruise market. |

Like their name "The Yachts Of Seabourn" they are a very small ship cruise line like Silversea. Seabourn and Silverseas dominate the small ship luxury market. Prices, clients and service are comparable to Silversea Cruise. Most of Seabourn Ships are a little older and do not have the balcony options that you will find on the other luxury cruise lines. |

Regent Seven Seas Cruises is our top rated luxury cruise line for the money. Most of Regent's Ships are mid-sized newer and most are "Suites Only Ships", which is a plus because even if you get the lowest cabin on a suite only ship, you are guaranteed a Verandah Suite. Prices on Regent are moderate to expensive. (Note: Not all Regent Ships are suite only ships. Be sure to check with BestCruiseBuy.com to make sure of your cabin type before purchasing). |

Crystal Cruises is the large ship luxury cruise lines. If you are wanting all the amenities and entertainment found on larger ships; however, want the excellent service found on luxury cruise lines, Crystal Cruises is the perfect choice. The new Crystal Serentity and the Crystal Symphony feature wide choices in cabins which range from inside cabins to penthouse suites. Prices on Crystal Cruises range from moderately expensive to expensive. |
If you are flexible on dates and you are able to travel at the last minute, you might find a great deal on a last minute cruise (within 90 days of departure) that has not filled up. However, if you are locked in to a date or ship, booking early is always the best bet to getting the lowest price on a luxury cruise line.
